This presentation is a work-in-progress, but will cover the following topics:
1) The importance of solitary bees (a non-honeybee perspective)
2) The importance of “fractured” habitats & urban biodiversity
3) Urban gardens as “links” between or connecting fractures
4) Planning gardens: a) phenology, b) nectar sources/nutrients, c) matching flower types with different bees species, d) Non-flower materials that help attract and establish bees
5) Human-made bee habitats (aka bumblebee domiciles and orchard mason bee nests)
6) Kinds of bumblebees & solitary bee families to look for when gardens are planted
